Description:

Suri is a young, fun loving dog that enjoys playing fetch and having her belly rubbed!  She does not really enjoying spending time alone in her kennel - she would much rather be playing with one of the volunteers playing fetch or going for a ride.   She enjoys active children and will make friends with some cats but chase some as well.   She likes camping and baths and squeeky toys and chew bones.   We know this because she was adopted and lived successfully in a loving home until the adults in the home got too busy and the daughter moved out on her own.   Now Suri is looking for someone else to play with and to share her life with.

Suri did come into Safe Haven as a stray from Williamsburg, and she has one eye that looked cloudy and didn't seem to be functioning.  We took her to a specialty vet opthamologist to have her eye checked out.  The vet said her eye was likely a defect from birth and never funcitoned at all, and this is in fact seen sometimes within the Heeler breed.  It is not bothering her and will not require any further medical attention.  So we were glad to hear that medically she is healthy, and her other eye is 100% perfect.  The volunteers at Safe Haven can attest to the fact that having only one functioning eye certainly does not slow down Suri at all.  She is a great dog that has loved our adoption events at Petco and anywhere she can get attention.
