Safe Haven of Iowa County

Maverick is a handsome boy who is officially ready to find his co-pilot for life! He arrived at the shelter as a local stray alongside his son, Goose. After making further connections with their previous owners, who were no longer able to provide for them, we learned that Maverick is the father of Goose - and also the father of Charlotte and IceMan who also recently joined the crew. These two both arrived thin, hungry, and in need of some coat conditioning, but Maverick has proven to be a resilient soul. After some much-needed TLC, he has blossomed into a healthy, happy boy whose coat is finally regaining its shine. He has moved past his days of wandering and is now looking for a soft place to land and a family to call his own.

While we are still getting to know him, he hasn't shown negative behaviors toward other dogs, so we are excited to begin more formal introductions with other potential canine companions soon. We also plan to see how he feels about feline friends in the near future. If you are looking for a steady and sweet companion to join your crew, Maverick will soon be cleared for takeoff!
