MARENGO CITY POUND AGREEMENT

Safe Haven of Iowa County and the City of Marengo have signed an agreement to move the city pound into Safe Haven’s building. This means that all stray dogs picked up within Marengo city limits by the Marengo police department will be taken to Safe Haven for their three business day stray hold. Reclaim procedures remain the same: owners will need to contact City Hall at 319 642-3232 (M-F) to begin the proper process. Safe Haven cannot release a dog until we have a completed release form from City Hall. Once that is done, please contact us at 319 622-7387 to set up a time to pick up your dog, as we are not open for walk-ins.

**Safe Haven will continue operating as the Iowa County pound as well, for dogs found outside Marengo city limits. State law requires proof of rabies vaccination in order to claim your dog—which we will be enforcing. Like usual, please call us at 319 622-7387 to set up a time to pick up your dog, as we are not open for walk-ins.**
