Safe Haven of Iowa County

Look at those sweet brown eyes!!  They belong to Buddy, and he came into Safe Haven as a stray dog through the Iowa County Pound.  His owner was found, but asked Safe Haven to find Buddy a new home as he just couldn't give him the attention that he felt Buddy deserved. Buddy lived outside in a kennel. Buddy seems to be a very easy going, laid back dog and loves all people he meets so far. That said, being a middle aged dog and having lived most of his life in an outdoor kennel, we would probably not recommend him for a home with small children. He may well do just fine with them, but given his background, he's just not had much opportunity to socialize with and learn how to behave around them, so better to be safe than sorry. He loves to go on walks (though he is quite strong), and is a big cuddle bug!  We haven't been able to determine yet how he is with cats or other dogs, but again, given that he did spend a large portion of his life in an outdoor kennel, he may prefer to be the only pet in the household, or have a preference for female canine companions, as he was just neutered when he came into our care. We will update as we learn more about this sweet boy.
