Stanley came to Safe Haven over a year ago now and we could tell he had not been treated well in the past. Stanley really seems like he wants to be a lap dog and does seek attention from our volunteers - however he does not like to be pet anywhere near his head. He has biten a volunteer when trying to be leashed up, but generally does offer a little growl to let us know when he is not happy. We have learned to respect Stanley's warning growls and we walk him using a harness now. Recently Stanley made a trip to the groomer to get his new summer haircut, and he just loves his new look - he trots around looking very regal now! Several volunteers really think he is a great little dog, and we are hopeful that the perfect family is out there for him too. This family would not have any small children or anyone that might scare Stanley or make him feel uncomfortable, and they must be able to read his body language or warning growls when he is not comfortable. He is a very happy fellow when he is trotting around the yard playing with his other canine friends at Safe Haven! He also loves going on walks and sniffing around the yard.
