Urgent! We are seeking a foster, rescue, or adoptive home for this wonderful boy ASAP! We have had some disappoints recently with dogs being returned after adoption due to the adoptive owner's circumstances changing, and Jack is our latest fellow that has lost his home through no fault of his own. Jack's adoptive owner reports that he was a good boy that enjoyed playing with other easy going dogs about his size. He was house and kennel trained, but needed to be familiar with his surroundings and in a good routine, as Jack is unfortunately, blind.
Jack is a very happy dog that likes to try and jump up on people for a "hug" (seriously, the guy gives great hugs!). He is always ready for a nice scratch behind the ears or a nice long walk.  As with any other fox hound, he loves to run, so he would love to have a huge fenced in area to run in.  The only toys he seems interested in are Nylabones, and when you can’t find any of them, just check the bottom of his water bucket – he likes them clean!  When it's warm out, Jack likes to wade in a nice cool pool. . . or his water bucket.
Although we try to provide a good environment at the shelter for all of our dogs, we would much rather see Jack in a foster or adoptive home as shelter life was hard on him.
Due to his blindness, we would not recommend him to a home with small children as being touched suddenly and/or sudden loud noises could startle him more than the average dog.
Jack is on daily eye drops but other than those, and a good routine and familiar environment, he does not require any special care. His blindness is permanent and irreversible.
Please contact us ASAP if you are interested in Jack, as we want to do whatever we can to prevent him from living at the shelter again.
