Paisley and her sister Presley were originally strays in Cedar Rapids that were picked up by Animal Control and taken to the Cedar Rapids Animal Care and Control shelter and never claimed. The staff at the shelter were experiencing overcrowding in their dog kennels, and started calling around to other area shelters asking for help. Luckily Safe Haven found ourselves in a position to help and took in four great dogs ...two of them were these two adorable young pups Paisley and Presley. They are guessed to be a Hound Dog mix, and will likely mature into nice medium to large sized dogs.
They will be spayed on Wednesday, April 2nd and should be ready to head to their forever homes on Friday, April 4th.
The ideal adoptive family will be committed to taking a puppy obedience class right away to get started on the right foot - they will need a family that can commit to continue proper socialization and also all the work that goes into house-training a puppy, which requires a lot of patience and persistence with working on a schedule. Puppies need to be taken outside frequently - as often as every 4 hours in the beginning. So an ideal home for these puppies will be one where they won't have long periods of time during the day spent alone during the first few months, so they can have the best chance of successful housetraining and have years of wonderful love and devotion to focus on!
