Duke came to us after he was relinquished for nipping at the family's young child.  His mom is a purebred Catahoula, and his dad is a Bloodhound / Australian Shepherd mix that tips the scale at 100 pounds, so Duke could be a big fella once he is full grown.  His family reports that Duke does amazing with other dogs, cats and older children and adults. He loves to play and sit with adults on the couch watching television!

With his history, small children in the home would not be a good match. Duke is very nervous in our shelter environment and does take a while to warm up. He submissivley urinates when strangers get close, or he gets overly exited. Initially Duke offered a growl when we entered his kennel, but once he warms up he was able to see that sweet "puppy-like" personality.

Keep in mind that Duke is young and will need help working on his manners. It will take time and patience and he is looking for a family that can dedicate and commit themselves to giving him a bright future through the extra love and training that a puppy requires.
