If you are looking for a super sweet family dog - Belle may just be the perfect match for you!  She was relinquished to Safe Haven from a very loving family that have a couple other dogs at home that Belle had recently started to not appreciate, in fact she did start a few fights with the other female dog in the house.  The family tried different approaches to try and makes things work with all their dogs, and even took Belle to their vet and tried a couple different medications to help "chill" Belle out - but unfortunately these efforts did not help.  Knowing that Belle was just not happy and safe living in their home any longer, they asked Safe Haven to find her a new home where she could relax and flourish in.

It is unusual for us to have so much background info on one of our dogs, as most are strays - but with Belle, we are so happy to know her total history.  Belle's birthday is October 10, 2017 - and her family has had her since she was 8 weeks old.  Belle is a Boxer and Irish Wolfhound mix - which explains why she is such a big girl (120 pounds) ....although she really does need to lose some weight to be the healthiest dog she deserves to be. Belle had a complete blood test done to make sure her thyroid and other levels were within normal range - and we are happy to report everything looks great!  So she is now on a diet and getting lots of exercise every day to help get her down to an ideal weight, and her new forever family should be committed to continue on this plan.

Belle loves kids (especially older kids) and men and women alike - offers up great kisses pretty easily.  She does not get along with cats, so her previous family think a home where she is the only pet will be the home where she can be happiest.  Belle's family say that she loves belly rubs, rope toys, bones, stuffed toys, treats and LOVES a good snuggle on the couch!
