Penny came in to Safe Haven when her owner contacted us to let us know he was moving and his new living situation did not make it possible for her to live inside the house where she has lived her whole life.  Her family owner loved her dearly, and knew that she deserved to be inside and living as part of a loving family - so he made the difficult decision to ask for help finding her a new loving forever home.

Penny is almost 8 years old and her owner reports that she is a Jack Russell Terrier mix - we are guessing the other breed mixed in is likely Aussie (Australian Shepherd) due to her larger size, beautiful Blue Merle coloring on her face, as well as the two different colors in her eyes (blue spots in the iris of her eyes) which is a common trait among Aussies.

Penny is a total sweetheart, just an all around happy-go-lucky dog!  She is quite a bit overweight and is already on a diet - needing to lose around 10 pounds.  Her bloodwork also shows she has borderline low thyroid levels, so she has been started on a daily thyroid medication. Penny's vet records from over the years also show she has had a few ear infections so her new family should be ready to stay on top of her ear health, and will likely benefit from frequent ear rinses to keep them healthy.
