Cheyenne is a sweet dog, that came to Safe Haven with 3 other dogs (all are a Lab/Husky/German Shepherd mix)  from a family going through a divorce and needing to find a safe place for their 4 dogs.  Cheyenne is 2 & 1/2 years old, and while she is shy and under-socialized, she is quickly learning to trust all our volunteers at Safe Haven and seeks out attentnion.  She is used to living among several other dogs, however her owner did say she likes to chase cats and would likely do best not living in a home with cats.

Cheyenne is warming up nicely to everyone she meets, but sudden movements, loud noises and many other new experiences do startle her. So an indeal home will be patient and calm, while building the foundation of a great relationship with Cheyenne.  As with any new dog, we strongly encourage a family to take a beginner obedience class with their new dog.  Cheyenne had never been on a leash before coming to Safe Haven, so walking on a leash and other basic obedience skills will need to be learned yet.  Helping Cheyenne learn and build confidence will help her grow into the great dog we know she can be.  She has been keeping a very clean kennel while at Safe Haven and her previous owner said she enjoyes spending time inside and outside, and was also accustomed to being kenneled during the day.
