Description:

Annie is a super sweet, special needs, Australian Cattle Dog / Australian Shepherd mix (??) that is 1&1/2 years old.  Annie has been diagnosed with a congenital eye disease called: Microphthalmia, also known as "Tiny Eye Syndrome" and unfortunately this condition has severely limited Annie's vision.  While her vision may be limited, but her love and sweetness is endless!

Annie came to Safe Haven as a surrender, because a very loving lady took over Annie's care from her neighbors in hopes that Annie would flourish with more consistant supervision and TLC, becasue in her previous home Annie spent quite a bit of time in her kennel while her family was at work.  In her most recent home, Annie LOVED all the attention she got from everyone,  including the grandchildren.  However, this loving home already had a loud, rambunctious dog that proved to stress Annie out.  Due to her limited vision, she simply couldn't understand all the barking and noise the other dog made - in fact her owner said Annie is not comfortable living in a loud and activie home and especially where multiple dogs are barking, etc.. When Annie is confused, she did get destructive in her home - if she doesn't understand what is happening around her, she became a destructive chewer :(  This loving owner had Annie 4 months, and became quite attached to her, however she knew that a quieter, calm home would be much better for Annie, and feels Annie would do best in a home with a fenced in yard so she can safely wander around and sniff until her little heart is content!  Annie will not be a candidate to be left alone in an unfenced yard to play, as her limited vision makes it difficult for her to safely navigate her way around a yard.

So if your home is a quiet, predictable environment, Annie may be just the perfect dog for you.  In return, she will melt your heart as she loves to cuddle and just glue herself to you.  We know the perfect home is out there for her!
