Drake and his sister Darla may just be the cutest "scruffy" puppies we have ever had at Safe Haven. They are a little shy at first, but once Drake is in your lap, he is such a cuddle-bug and even offers a few puppy kisses! He is estimated at 10 weeks old, and has already quickly stolen the hearts of all our volunteers! One of his most endearing features is all his long white scruffy hairs - for some reason all his white hair is much longer than the black hairs and seems to stick out more...which is just so incredibly unique and adorable.
Drake is fully vaccinated, de-wormed, microchipped, and neutered - so he is on track for a long healthy life with his forever family. Because having a puppy is a big decision that comes with a lot of responsibilities, an ideal family will be committed to taking a puppy obedience class and will continue to work at socialization skills. A well-socialized puppy usually develops into a happy, more relaxed and enjoyable pet. Because Drake is so young, he will also need a family willing to commit to all the work that goes into house-training a puppy, which requires a lot of patience and persistence with working on a schedule. Puppies need to be taken outside frequently - as often as every 4 hours in the beginning. So an ideal home will be one where Drake won't have long periods of time during the day spent alone, so he can have the best chance of successful housetraining and have years of wonderful love and devotion to focus on!
