Shelby is a very special young dog who is shy and slow to trust new people, but once she is comfortable with you, she is such a cuddly and playful girl! She makes the wait so worthwhile with her goofy personality!!

Sadly Shelby had a family with kids, and they all loved her dearly, but due to the special needs of one of the kids, they felt they needed to find Shelby a new home because she had escaped multiple times when the child accidentally left the front door open. Shelby's initial fearfulness does make it quite difficult to catch her once she is running.  It was so clear that she was dearly loved, and we are blessed to be entrusted with the task of caring for Shelby until that new family is found.

Shelby is 2 years old, and loves a good belly rub and her rope toys! Her family reports that she gets along with other dogs, but not cats. She is fine with kids, but she may likely do best with a little older kids, as loud unpredictable toddlers may make her nervous. Shelby is house-trained and crate trained, as she was kenneled on weekdays. Her previous family would LOVE for Shelby to find a new home that has a fenced in yard where she can run and play safely outside.  Her ideal home would be one with a fenced yard or access to a dog park.   She LOVES to chase a ball and racing around with it in her mouth keeping it away from another dog is even more fun.  We wonder if she is part greyhound because she is so fast and makes other dogs look clumsy by comparison.

If you're looking for a lifelong canine companion, and are willing to be patient while Shelby gets to know and trust you, please consider adopting this sweet girl!
