Description:UPDATE August 11: Skye has returned to Safe Haven as she was able to climb out of the fencing at her new home, usually looking for someone to play with; but other times getting her herself in trouble. Therefore, she will need a family with a higher fence perhaps or who is willing to work on training or find other means to keep her in her own yard. This family did find that she does fine when left alone when they leave newspapers in her kennel with her so she can tear them up.
Skye's family asked us to find her a new home, and we are happy to do that for this beautiful, interesting looking little girl (scruffy fur, brindle coloring, and a long body with shorter legs than would be expected for her length).
Skye did spend a week on a home visit after coming to us and from that we learned that she had separation anxiety when everyone in the family leaves. She was a wonderful companion while the family was at home; but could be a little stinker when everyone left. We do not see this issue at the shelter (she is not frantic in her kennel), so we are wondering with a large kennel or other safe room for her to stay in when her people leave, if she would be ok, and there are many things that can be done to help her with this issue. She may also do well with the company of another, kind, older, laid back dog (she seems to really enjoy some dogs and really dislike others). And if her family doesn't have to leave her for long periods of time, especially at first - even better!
She will chase small animals that run and may hurt them (she is an intense little terrier after all!), so we are seeking a home with no cats.
