Description:

LadyBird is such a volunteer favorite at Safe Haven....just look at this "cutie-pa-tootie"!!!  She came to Safe Haven as a transfer from the Cedar Rapids animal shelter - and from the moment she walked in our doors, everyone is swooning over her!  She loves all our volunteers and belly rubs seem to be her favorite pastime activity.  She appears to be fairly young - estimated to be around 2 years old, so the puppy stage is behind her and hopefully she will have a long happy life ahead of her! We have noticed that LadyBird seems to have sensitive skin with potential allergies - so she is on a sensitive skin food, and may require allergy medication as well.

We had one of our amazing volunteers donate a DNA test for this sweet girl & the results are in!! LadyBird is a unique blend of:
60% American Pit Bull Terrier
30% American Bulldog
5% Boxer
5% German Shepherd

We think her blended breeds are just the best! Now the next mission is to get her the home that she deserves - we just know she is going to make some lucky family a fantastic pet! LadyBird was adopted briefly into a fantastic home with other dogs and 2 cats. They loved her and said she is a great dog - as she did great with the kids, and fine with her canine brothers, but she did like to stalk one of their cats, and also showed some preying instincts when she met a small breed dog on an outing - so the family was just not able to comfortably integrate her successfully into their home.

However we like to look at the positives in these situations - so we now know more about LadyBird than we did before, and now know that she LOVES car rides, cuddling on the couch, going for walks, sleeping in bed with her people, and should be fine with medium or large sized dogs! The other great news is the family loved her so much they have sponsored her adoption fee for her next family! So we are now looking for a home for LadyBird that doesn't have cats, and any dog friends should be her size or larger.

If you're interested in adoption LadyBird, please submit an adoption application for her online. These can be found on our website at www.wesavepets.com. Once the application has been completed, a Safe Haven volunteer will be in contact to discuss the next steps for a meet & greet.
