Josie is a 13.5 year old German short hair, retired hunter, raised from a pup. As Josie has gotten older and no longer has a job, she’s gotten so she barks a lot in her kennel, especially when Terry and Myrna are gone. One of the neighbors has complained repeatedly, and apparently the owners feel they can’t provide Josie the time and attention she’s now wanting at this stage in her life. They go to Alabama for two months in the winter and have had someone come by to feed her, etc., but they realize that will just not be possible this year. (She got pneumonia two winters ago, the caretaker took her to the vet where she was nursed back to health for two weeks). Other than a lipoma on her right side and a skin tag on her lower right eyelid, she has no other apparent health problems. They will get her to the vet to get her shots up to date and get her nails trimmed. If they can’t find her a home, they plan to put her down because they think she is increasingly unhappy with her situation and don’t want her to suffer just because they can’t offer her the right situation. For now, when home, they’ve got her out on a chain where she can be on their back deck and she seems a bit more happy. I think Josie would be happy being around people more of the time. Terry says she doesn’t seem to have much of a hunting nose anymore so may be less inclined to follow it, but a fenced yard would be best. Interested in adopting this pet?
