This little guy just makes you want to take care of him.  Our little Truman is quite shy and depends on other dogs to give him confidence to walk on a leash.

Due to this fear, Truman will definitely need a home with a secure fence because he is certainly a flight risk if he were to get off leash.  Currently he is very frightened when going out for a walk so he is double leashed - one leash attached to his harness, and the second one attached to his collar.  An ideal family for Truman will understand it will take time for him to learn to trust and gain some confidence.  Another doggie friend would probably be a great idea for him as well.

Sometimes we are unsure when we guess breed mixes but Truman really seems pretty straightforward as you can really see the Beagle traits and the Basset traits both in this little fellow.  He is the typical tri-color of a Beagle and has the shorter legs and huge floppy ears of a Basset.

**update: Truman had a family that fell in love with him and took him home.  They had another dog for Truman to be friends with, and everyone hoped this home would be exactly what Truman needed - but things just were not a perfect fit.  After a few weeks the family realized that their other dog was much too playful for Truman.  He did enjoy cuddling on the couch with the humans, but did not have any interest in playing with another active dog.  The family said Truman would prefer a quieter home, and a laid back older dog sibling would be perfect.  They also felt like they just were not home enough for Truman, and maybe the perfect family wouldn't be gone as much would help him not bark as much during the day when left alone.
