Lucy will be coming to Safe Haven on May 27 and will be spayed that day. She will be available for adoption the weekend of May 30, assuming all is going well with the spay surgery healing. Applications to adopt are being accepted now. She is being relinquished to us because she and a senior female Siberian in the family have a history of occasional fights and her family is fearing for the safety of the dogs and their small children. Lucy is loved very much which made this a difficult decision for her family. Her family has been very open with providing information about her life/personality while with them. We thank them for the following information. Lucy has been a great family dog - wonderful with the children, a running mate for the adults with endless energy and always happy to greet the family and anxious for their loving and play. She needs to be an only pet since she HAS to be alpha with other dogs ---although she will play, especially with male dogs, if they understand she is alpha. Cats are out of the question and the scar on her nose testifies to that. She is very fast and inclined to run with that endless energy inherent in her breed. A fence would definitely be the easiest way of managing that tendency. She is accustomed to life on an inside/outside basis but definitely wants to be inside during a thunderstorm.
