Description:
Jax and his two littermates, Saia and Nico, came to us when their people realized that they did not have enough time for them and that it was unfair to the dogs to keep them outside penned up all day with no company or activity. Jax is a gentle, big boy and loves attention. When he came into Safe Haven he was limping on both rear legs and x-rays showed he had torn ligaments in both of his 'knees' and needed surgery to make the needed repairs for him to live and move pain-free. Lucky for Jax, he was accepted into a program through Critter Crusaders of Cedar Rapids that pays for advanced medical procedures for shelter pets. So through this program, Jax had surgery on June 18th, on both legs, to make those needed repairs, and on August 16th Jax completed the 8 weeks of post-surgical therapy and physical limitations, and is now working at slowly getting back to his strong self. He is still on leash restrictions for a few more weeks before he can run free and romp through our play yards off-leaah, but it is time to start to look for a forever family for him! Jax seems to be okay with some (but not all) other dogs, but definitely needs a home without cats. He can be leary of new men sometimes, but tends to warm up quickly now.
