Safe Haven of Iowa County

Little Butterball wants to be friends with whoever she meets ....but she finds it hard to be brave and make that first move.   Give her a little (very little) time and quiet understanding and she will buddy right up to you.  She is getting braver with each passing day and will willingly come to the front of the kennel to be petted by volunteers she has already gotten to know just like all the brave dogs. 

She came in with her 'sibling', Pepper the Jack Russell terrier, so she does not have to be outgoing and pushy about making friends because Pepper will lead the way for her.  They came to us through divorce/moving situation.   They were much loved in their past home and are ready to shower others with love when they find that family.    Butterball sometimes seems to be acting as if she thinks someone might strike her, but that is just part of her shyness.
