Description:

Skittles is an adorable, friendly, 4 year old Cavachon (a mix of Bichon Frise and Cavalier King Charles Spaniel). Skittles is NOT at our shelter facility, but in a foster home at this time.

Skittles' family is incredibly reluctant to give him up, but have come to the conclusion that, after a death in the family, they do not have the time a dog needs.

Skittles seems to love everyone he meets, including other dogs and cats (he is quite playful, especially at first, and some felines may not appreciate this). Skittles was raised in a home with older children. He loves to play, he loves toys (but destroys them quickly and should be supervised), and loves to chase balls, but doesn't bring them back. What he might love even more than playing is cuddling and lap time!

Skittles is kennel trained, but not reliably house trained - he will need a family that is patient and willing to work on this as though Skittles is a puppy. Unfortunately, when Skittles came to live with his family as a puppy, they did not have the time to focus on house training, as their family member got sick around this time as well.

Skittles is also a runner - so he cannot be adopted by a family that wants to let their dogs out to potty and expects them to come back on their own. A secured fenced yard would be best, though not required, by the right applicant.

For inquiries about this dog, please contact his foster Renee at rap7176@hotmail.com, and fill out Safe Haven's online adoption application. Renee is helping to screen applicants to find the very best fit possible for Skittles, for his sake, as well as the family needing to give him up. We anticipate having a lot of interest in this very sweet little boy, so please be patient as we work to do our best to find a great loving forever home for Skittles.

Interested parties should have an established history of taking good care of family pets (including with their vet), and have means to own a dog that requires regular grooming. They should be willing/able to be active with a young dog, and also have a lot of time to devote to a pet.
