Safe Haven of Iowa County

Little Saysha is as sweet as a piece of chocolate candy.   In fact, she is chocolate color from nose to tail with eyes about the same color.  She must be some kind of terrier and probably will remain relatively small considering she is only 15 pounds at the age of 4 months and appears to be fine-boned.
She is very well socialized after having been fostered in Texas with Chip and Jo-Jo.   The puppies were pulled from a 'high-kill' shelter'  where there remains an extreme population of stray dogs resulting from the hurricanes and the upheaval of households at that time.  Saysha was found on a road where she had presumably been dumped.   She and her two foster siblings were flown to us by a volunteer group of pilots, Pilots-n-Paws, who spend their weekends and own money to relay dogs  from high-kill shelters to other shelters that have room and need for them.

The sad situation of too many stray dogs at a time when families are still in upheaval in Texas is offset by the fortunate situation in Iowa where there are more people looking for adoptable dogs than there are available dogs.   Consequently, we have these three very sociable young dogs who will be available for adoption as soon as they are spayed or neutered.   They are already microchipped and have received both rounds of puppy vaccines along with their first year rabies shot.
